Legal Framework

Terms of Service

These terms govern use of Lex Source IO for AI-assisted research across Gazette notices, legislation, and court decisions. They define responsibilities, legal limitations, and production-use expectations.

Effective date: April 13, 2026

1. Scope of the Platform

Lex Source IO is an AI-assisted legal research platform that supports discovery, filtering, summarization, and monitoring of Kenya Gazette notices, legislation, and court decisions.

The service is designed for professional research workflows and public-information analysis. It is not an official government publication system.

2. Acceptance and Eligibility

By using Lex Source IO, you confirm that you have legal capacity to enter binding agreements and that your use complies with applicable law.

If you use the platform on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

3. No Legal Advice

Lex Source IO provides research support only. AI outputs, summaries, and analysis are informational and do not constitute legal advice.

You must independently review authoritative legal sources and seek qualified legal counsel before making legal, regulatory, or commercial decisions.

4. Authoritative Sources and Precedence

Official Gazette publications, enacted legislation, and official court records remain authoritative.

If any discrepancy exists between Lex Source IO output and an official source, the official source prevails.

  • Kenya Gazette notices and special issues
  • Published Acts, subsidiary legislation, and amendments
  • Officially reported or published court decisions

5. AI Output Limitations

You acknowledge that AI systems can produce incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate responses and may misinterpret context.

Summaries and extracted points are convenience outputs and must be verified against source text before reliance.

6. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for lawful use of the platform and for validating critical outputs before action.

  • Do not submit data you are not authorized to process
  • Do not use the platform for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive activity
  • Do not attempt reverse engineering, disruption, or unauthorized access
  • Do not overload systems through abusive automation or scraping

7. Data and Confidentiality Expectations

Queries and uploaded materials may be processed to provide results, maintain service quality, and support security diagnostics.

You should avoid uploading unnecessary confidential or highly sensitive personal data unless you have a lawful basis and proper safeguards.

8. Intellectual Property

Lex Source IO software, product design, and platform components are protected intellectual property.

Public legal materials remain subject to their applicable publication rights and ownership frameworks.

9. Availability and Service Changes

The platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Continuous availability is not guaranteed.

We may update, suspend, or discontinue features to improve performance, security, or compliance.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lex Source IO and its operators are not liable for losses arising from reliance on AI outputs, service interruptions, or data interpretation errors.

This includes direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages connected with platform use.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lex Source IO and its affiliates from claims, liabilities, and expenses arising from your misuse of the platform or breach of these terms.

12. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate access where required for security, legal compliance, abuse prevention, or material breach of these terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of Kenyan courts, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
