Copyright & DMCA Policy

Lex Source IO owns all rights, title, and interest in and to the Platform, including but not limited to: the Lex Source IO name, logo, branding, domain names, user interface design, website layout, visual elements, and proprietary software code.

AI-generated summaries, analyses, structured outputs, and research compilations produced by the Platform are proprietary works of Lex Source IO, created through our proprietary retrieval, ranking, and generation systems. These outputs are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

The selection, arrangement, and presentation of search results, the structure of AI-generated responses, and the formatting of research outputs constitute original works of authorship owned by Lex Source IO.

The Kenya Gazette is an official government publication. Individual Gazette notices, legislative texts, and court decisions accessible through the Platform are public-domain government works or works in which the government holds copyright subject to statutory exceptions for public access.

Lex Source IO does not claim copyright ownership over the original text of Kenya Gazette notices, court decisions, legislation, or other government-produced legal materials. Our Platform provides access, search, indexing, and AI-assisted analysis tools for these public-domain and publicly-accessible materials.

The Platform's value lies in its search technology, AI analysis, summarization capabilities, and research workflow tools — not in claiming ownership of the underlying government documents.

Users are responsible for understanding any applicable copyright restrictions on government publications in their jurisdiction. In Kenya, the Kenya Gazette is published under the authority of the Government Printer, and access is generally available to the public.

Users retain ownership of content they upload to the Platform, including documents, queries, notes, and custom configurations ("User Content"). Lex Source IO does not claim ownership of User Content.

By uploading or submitting User Content to the Platform, users grant Lex Source IO a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to process, analyze, store, and display such content solely as necessary to provide the Platform services to that user.

This license is strictly limited to service delivery purposes. It does not grant Lex Source IO the right to sell, license, or distribute User Content to third parties, or to use User Content for purposes unrelated to the user's account and service.

The license terminates when the user deletes their User Content or closes their account, subject to reasonable backup retention periods and legal obligations as described in our Privacy Policy.

By uploading or submitting content to the Platform, users represent and warrant that:

Lex Source IO respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and applicable international copyright laws, we will respond to valid notices of alleged copyright infringement.

If you believe that content available on the Platform infringes your copyright, you may submit a written notification ("Takedown Notice") to our designated copyright agent. The Takedown Notice must include:

Lex Source IO maintains a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers of intellectual property rights.

A "repeat infringer" is a user who has been the subject of multiple valid Takedown Notices or who has been found by a court of competent jurisdiction to have infringed intellectual property rights through use of the Platform.

Upon receiving a valid Takedown Notice, we will: (1) promptly remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material; (2) notify the user who posted the material; and (3) document the notice in the user's account record.

Users who believe their content was removed in error may submit a counter-notification as described in Section 6. If we receive a valid counter-notification, we will restore the material within 10–14 business days unless the original complainant files a court action.

Lex Source IO incorporates open-source software components licensed under various open-source licenses, including but not limited to MIT, Apache 2.0, and BSD licenses.

The use of open-source components is governed by their respective license terms. Lex Source IO complies with all applicable open-source license obligations, including attribution requirements.

A list of major open-source components and their licenses is available upon request. This list does not include components that are purely development dependencies and not distributed as part of the Platform.

"Lex Source IO," the Lex Source IO logo, and other marks used on the Platform are trademarks or registered trademarks of Lex Source IO in Kenya and other jurisdictions.

Users may not use Lex Source IO's trademarks, logos, or branding in any manner that suggests endorsement, affiliation, or sponsorship without prior written permission.

All other trademarks, service marks, and trade names appearing on the Platform are the property of their respective owners.
